When the depth of Soul meets the rhythm of Hip-Hop, sprinkled with a touch of improvisational freedom, you get the signature "Kool" vibe of ๐.๐.๐. Rising to fame after their track "MOON" (the ending theme for a popular Japanese drama) sparked a frenzy on streaming platforms, this collectiveโwhich thrives on group creativityโis ready to take their boundary-pushing musical experiments beyond Japan.
Billboard Live TAIPEI sat down for an exclusive interview with ๐.๐.๐., where the members revealed that their performance on March 17th is more than just their first overseas challenge; itโs a live party centered on "sharing joy." Although this is their first time in Taiwan, they are already bursting with curiosity, especially when it comes to night markets and Braised Pork Rice (Lu Rou Fan). Want to know how these musical prodigies create resonance through "collective improvisation"? This surprise-filled debut is an event you absolutely cannot miss!
Q: Your music blends elements of Soul, Jazz, and Hip-Hop, and weโve heard that you place great importance on "collective improvisation." With each member having such a strong individual style, how do you reach a consensus during the creative process and shape that unique "Kool" vibe of S.A.R.?
S.A.R.: We donโt operate with the mindset that there is one "correct answer." Instead, we create under the shared understanding that everyone is free to express themselves. To support this, we regularly share the music weโre currently listening to, which helps build a deeper common ground and mutual understanding.
Q: Your song "MOON" is widely known as the ending theme for the drama Synanthrope. Could you talk about how this song has changed your lives?
S.A.R.: Because of the drama, a much wider audience began taking an interest in S.A.R. It expanded our reach significantly, and weโve become more conscious of the fact that so many more people are now tuned in to our music.
Q: Have you ever performed in Taiwan before? What kind of musical experience are you planning to bring to the Billboard Live TAIPEI audience? Will there be any Taiwan-exclusive surprises?
S.A.R.: We have never been to Taiwan before. We simply hope to express the sheer joy of performing overseas for the first time through our live set.
Q: What is your impression of Taiwan? Any favorite Taiwanese artists, places you want to visit, or foods you want to try?
S.A.R.:
- Impression of Taiwan: Delicious food, kind people, a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, and streetscapes full of nostalgia!
- Favorite Taiwanese Artist: Sunset Rollercoaster (่ฝๆฅ้ฃ่ป).
- Places/Food: We definitely want to check out the night markets and try some authentic Braised Pork Rice (Lu Rou Fan).
Some music is meant for headphones, but ๐.๐.๐. belongs to the stage.
